While the refs may not have intentionally decided the final victor that was the outcome of this call. I recognize that rules are rules but this seems almost like an abuse of power by the refs. That ball was blocked on the 20 as easily as it was on the 35. 35 yards is nothing for a kicker. The call is still stupid and ridiculous, though. Dumb rule, but irrelevant penalty. Wouldn't they have still missed if they had been 15 yards closer? It doesn't seem that 15 more yards, at that close distance, would require the kick to be that much flatter putting the trajectory of the kick more within the reach of the D-line.
