I thought this was the height of ridiculousness! While the refs may not have intentionally decided the final victor that was the outcome of this call. I recognize that rules are rules but this seems almost like an abuse of power by the refs.

I wanted to extend an invitation to participate in the weekly blog carnival that I host on Athletic Alley! If you follow the backlink, you will see the blog carnival in the right hand column. It could definitely provide more exposure for your site and the sport (or sports) you love. This would make an excellent contribution.

Okay, so I watched the footage. That ball was blocked on the 20 as easily as it was on the 35. 35 yards is nothing for a kicker.

The call is still stupid and ridiculous, though. Dumb rule, but irrelevant penalty. That's my final opinion

I didn't see the game so I may be speaking ignorantly...but if the kick was blocked, did the penalty really matter? Wouldn't they have still missed if they had been 15 yards closer? It doesn't seem that 15 more yards, at that close distance, would require the kick to be that much flatter putting the trajectory of the kick more within the reach of the D-line. Again, I didn't see the game, but perhaps someone could let me know.
